Good Morning and Happy Superbowl Sunday to all you football fanatics! Myself included of course and rooting for...

That's my business. ;-)

As we have moved on to producing Graphic Novels, one of the things that we really like to do are freelance projects. It breaks the tunnel vision of work and allows us to have fun with something fresh and new. Not to mention the $$$ if it should take off on social media.

After doing some Variant Covers for the Walking Dead, there was further interest with our followers on GOBK Studios. When are ya gonna do more ZOMBIE shit? Well...

ZOMBIES IN OUTER SPACE 2017. Digital Pencils and Inks by yours truly and Digital Coloring by the legendary King Bola. This was just something I was doing recently while I waited for more pencil pages for the Renegade Rabbi part 2. I really dig the old spooky stuff. Eerie, Creepy, Vampirella...it goes on and of course, Bernie Wrightson and Richard Corben are my heroes in this genre. They are outstanding and I was quite saddened that Bernie has retired due to health issues. Our prayers and well wishes go out to him and his family.

As for the mission, Scott "Uncle Grumpy" is tearing shit up with a graphic novel in progress, our pages for Renegade Rabbi, doing voice over work and of course building top notch models.

Mr. Comixnstuff, Jose A. Lopez is kicking ass with his digital coloring and picked up a comic book project and cover. Details will follow.

So, that will be it for now my peeps. I hope everyone enjoys the Superbowl festivities, don't get too fucked up if you have to drive and eat them wings! Love me some hot wings.

Until next time...remember...

Stay Grumpy!

Happy New Year everyone! I know, I know. Its been a minute. But never a minute too late to send salutations to good friends and faithful fans.

Now that the holidays are beyond us, its quite incredible that here we are, our 3rd Anniversary since we started here and very proud of what we have done in so little time.

Awesome.

As for updates, Work on the second issue of Renegade Rabbi is in the works. The 5th and final issue of SWIIISH has been done for some time and ready for a March release however...

The crew had a meeting. It was decided that we will stick to the Graphic Novel mode. Meaning, it gives us more room to be more creative with our work with no deadlines anchoring us down. In addition, some good advice and feedback with our submissions to Los Angeles and back, prompted us to do so. It was a good decision at the behest of various freelance projects that we are working on.
Hey, a brother has to eat and pay the bills. Correctomundo?

With that, we will continue to post freelance work, update you on any Media events we are involved in or producing and of course pages from our series that we continue to create.
I gotta give a big shout out to the crew. While we juggle our personal lives along with this thing of ours, it ain't no walk in the park. But loving what you do is what its all about. Especially when you can run at your own pace.

We want to wish you a very Happy New Year and thank you so much for your support these last three years. The future holds much to the eye and faithful so stay tuned and remember...

Stay GRUMPY!

Greetings from the Grumpy Old Bastard Komix Bull Pen!

Still located in my apartment, but hey… the rent is affordable, the company is good and the crew remains to be EPIC. It has been a very busy year for us, and very rewarding as well. Blessed by some well deserved, commissioned projects, as well as keeping up with our deadline schedule, there is no complaining on our end at all.

But that is not the reason for this announcement. For three years in the making, today we release The Renegade Rabbi on Madefire, at https://goo.gl/4JnQj3, for your reading pleasure for free! Dats right, we said it.

For free.

For the above link to work on your cell phone, be sure to have Flash Player installed on your phone's Web browser but it's viewable on all platforms.

This project was a labor of love between me, and my comrades. Everyone involved worked together and diligently to make this happen. The story starts in World War 2 and ends up in the Old West. I must warn thee that it is a mature read and you should be over the age of 18 to read our book. Profanity, Nudity and good ol’ fashioned blood and guts killing go hand in hand so be forewarned. The popcorn? Well, that’s on you.

While we continue to experiment on different media to present our readers with a more interesting and satisfying experience, we want to thank our peeps for believing and following us for almost three years since we started. Meeting our investments and financial goals as of now, the rest is…time for more investing and setting financial goals. LOL. This is the way of the Indie Comic Warrior. We make comics, spend doe and pray for a break. It is what it is. But there are other areas we are looking at right now that require our attention and well as interest.

Right now, The Renegade Rabbi saga is being looked at in Los Angeles for a possible run on film or Television. A lot of work into this preparation and I want to thank those who are making this happen. Still in review status but in good hands never the less. When we know more, you will be the first to know. But with media there comes other options that we explored and see fit for regime.

Right now we are starting a live radio show with "ComixNstuff" creator and Bossman, Jose Antonio Lopez. Right hand man, friend and just another GRUMPY OLD BASTARD. You can find him on YOUTUBE and catch us at 1 PM est every Saturday at www.youtube.com/c/ComixNstuff. We welcome people to come on our panel and join us in chats about everything and anything affiliated with Comics…and stuff.

We will also continue on our schedule for comic releases with time forgiving to other freelance projects we have on the table. Promise.

So enjoy the Renegade Rabbi, let us know what you think on our BLOG or Facebook. On behalf of our staff, SHALOM!!!

…and stay GRUMPY!

PEACE

ITs been a while since posting a status. Its been balls to the wall with artwork and commissions which is a good thing. LOL

A lot of people have been inquiring about Variant Covers. Well, we DO them and have been getting more and more requests. We charge $150.00 for a B&W cover and $250.00 for a COLORED cover in which thats the whole SHEBANG. Inbox us if your interested or email us at gobkstudios@gmail.com

With fall coming, The Renegade Rabbi rides in November with its first release, SWIIISH 5 and final issue in the saga deploys in March of 2017. Currently, we are working on the second issue of The Renegade Rabbi for a July 2017 release so its been pretty busy in the GOBK Bullpen.

Meanwhile in Jacksonville Florida...props to our brother Jose Antonio Lopez for representing us at Tampa Comicon. Pics will follow as he will create a CON album for us. A shout out to Taric Smajic for working on our new software to bring you to a much better digital experience with our Komix.

Its been a hell of a run since we started. So much has transpired in both positive and negative directions. Lessons learned in the negative for sure, but more positive in every aspect that can reward us. As our business expands as well as our fanbase, GOBK Studios cannot begin to thank you for all your support and encouragement as we continue on this journey.

Also on the agenda, we have been approached by some gaming software companies to develop some character compositions in which I am very excited about being a gamer myself. SO stay tuned for that on the horizon.

We hope that the summer has been prosperous and forgiving anywhere that you may be. Until next time, take care, chill out and remember...

Stay Grumpy!

Greetings from the GOBK Studio Headquarters smack dab in the middle of Hells Kitchen in Manhattan New York! I know its been a minute since I shot a blog out at 'cha, but its been balls to the walls here in the lair focusing on some projects and commissions. Mad props to Uncle Grumpy himself, Scott Williams, who is currently working on a project from overseas colaberating with Joe Rubenstein of Marvel fame. In addition, he is working on the second issue of the Renegade Rabbi in which the first issue will be released in the fall.

As promised, this weekend we will be releasing the first issue of the MAN SHARK. No better time to do so with SHARK WEEK upon us. This was a character I created when I was a kid and when we launched Grumpy Old Bastard Komix a year and a half ago, there was no doubt that he would make his debut professionally from here.

Enter Dr. Marcus Mills, Marine Biologist. With a deep interest in the Mako Shark species, he brings his experiments to another level when he stumbles upon the cure for cancer. But when he performs the final stages of his experiment, something goes terribly wrong as he enters the threshold of his fate, never to look back.

There is a very long, personal journey to this character. When my old man first took me to see JAWS back in 1975, I was hooked just as everyone was. One day I made up this character and drew a comic on type writer paper. It was a gift to my dad and lord knows, he is STILL looking for this comic mixed up in the years of his various moves during his lifetime since then. He helped me copyright this character way back then and he never stopped encouraging me or supporting me to make this happen. I fought him tooth and nail over the years because driving a truck put food on the table, not comic books. But lo and behold, the opportunity came and me and the boys from the High School of Art & Design Class of 1980 decided it was now or never to make this happen and so... here we are.

My advice to anyone who pursues their dreams of partaking in the INDY COMIC business, it would be this:

IF your in it for the doe, about face your ass and continue doing whatever you are doing. Its a long and winding road with many good and bad lessons to be learned. Money to lose more than you earn and it is no doubt that I have found in this business, that it is the self content and fruits of your labor that will drive you on. Above all that you gave it a shot and that it was FUN! That is the only reason I continue in this business. Because it is FUN. Without that...sayonara.

From me and the boyz here at Grumpy Old Bastard Komix, we wish you and your families a blessed and safe summer. And as for you beach goers out there, may that MUSIC in your mind join the beat of your heart as you splash in the ocean on a care free, sun filled day. Beware what lurks beneath...the MAN SHARK COMETH!

Stay Grumpy...ALWAYS!

Greetings from the GOBK Universe! It has been a minute since I posted our last blog and that my friends, is a good thing. It means we are BIIIIIIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZY! So here is an update...

With the launch of our website gobkstudios.com and the release of SWIIISH 4 in March, things have come around quite nicely. The comics started to pick up momentum on the sales end thanks to the website, we have started releasing a webcomic on The Duck and with the drive and talents of our team, we have picked up a graphic novel that Uncle Grumpy himself is doing from over seas.

The next of our releases is The MAN SHARK. This mag will be out in July for Shark Week. I have to give a big shout out to our Media Mogul himself, Jose Antonio Lopez. Ever since he took over the responsibilities on the P.R. end of Grumpy Old Bastard Komix, things really started to move for us. In addition, I was quite surprised at his art skills. As you can see above, he did an outstanding job of coloring a splash page of MAN SHARK for promotion. There is no doubt we will be colaberating on future projects to keep up on our schedule. In the meantime, Jose handles our FACEBOOK page as well as our UTUBE channel. Currently, we are working on The DUCK Webcomic site so stay tuned for that.

As of now, the upcoming COMIC CON's that we will be a part of are Newark Comicon, New York Comicon and possibly, Big Apple Con. However, I am making an attempt to make it to Okinawa, Japan for Okinawa Con. My brother Henry "the legend" Ortega resides out there so we have to talk soon about that. The trip would be outstanding! Having served in the Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Foster in Oki, this would be a homecoming trip for me as well.

The schedule is on point and running smooth. We are releasing 3 comics a year. MAN SHARK and The RENEGADE RABBI are ready to go, SWIIISH 5 for 2017 is done and will conclude in that series. Right now, the 2nd comic to the RENEGADE RABBI series is on the drawing board as I write this. While Uncle Grumpy Scott is  hard at work on the graphic novel project from Europe, I will have to turn up my drawing skills to turbo. But with other talent being recruited, the production part of our THANG will endure for the best.

Check out our website. Its pretty Kool and kudo's to James Arnett of AIA Productions who kicked ass on developing it. We do offer web designing and if your interested at some dynamite rates please email us at gobkstudios@gmail.com You can utilize your correspondence from our website gobkstudios.com as well.

So with that, I hope to post another blog before the release of The MAN SHARK. I hope you all have an incredible Spring Season and I will catch you around somewhere, somehow and remember...

Stay Grumpy!

Peace

Good morning everyone! Bloggin' from the GOBK HQ in NYC, the crew at GOBK Studios is proud to announce the fourth installment of SWIIISH!

It has been a long journey with this nasty, sword swinging bitch. 10 years in fact. Done for shits and giggles, her story laid in the back of my closet for the same amount of time between Florida and NYC when I returned. One day I opened a folder and...BOOM! There she was. All 20 raw ass pages.

So with the help of an associate, with all the powers photoshop made possible, we re-hashed and formatted what was and SWIIISH issue 1 was born. It is with that concept that we launched our first comic for Grumpy Old Bastard Komix and so...the rest is history.

There is a nice easter egg in issue 4 but I am afraid you would have to get the other comics to find out what the hell is going on. The stories all have a purpose and will intertwine the upcoming issues of other characters. Check out our Website at gobkstudios.com  Our store and various other things are there to check out. You can see our Artwork, Facebook, UTUBE channel, Bloggs and much more!

I have to give a big shout out to who made this issue happen...

Mario Gully of OMG and King Bola for an EPIC cover! They are leaders in their craft and I thank them so much for hookin' it up! We will see them again on GOBK so stay tuned.

Bobby Penafiel for helping me color this mag. He came in and took the reigns and did a hell of a job! Another star on the rise and I am proud to say he is the ONLY one to own a GRUMPY Scooter! LOL. He will be back no doubt as well.

Our schedule is way ahead and since putting up our Website, we acquired a substantial job out of the United Kingdom this year. While the contract is being finalized, I am proud to say that Uncle Grumpy himself, Scott Williams, will be handling this project. A 50 page graphic novel at a well deserved page rate so BRAVO to my man! He deserves it! But no fret, I will be in the wings to help if need be. We are working on the 2017 schedule as we speak.

With that, MAN-SHARK will be our next release. Look out for him on SHARK WEEK in July of course! So, remember to check out our Website, LIKE us on Facebook and all that other good shit!

Thank you for all your support and as always, the crew encourages you to always...

STAY GRUMPY!
